Re: BOTTOM 320 — Week 6 — Poll 24

I picked up Hades recently and wasn't as impressed as I expected. Maybe I haven't played enough (~3 hours) to get to the really impressive parts. It's stylish, and the story is fun, but the gameplay gets really cluttered really fast and feels too frantic for me. I mean, I know part of the point is t...

Re: Langrisser 1 & 2 Remake

I returned to this remake during the winter break and will probably stick with it for a few more days at least. I managed to complete Langrisser 1 (happy-path) which was surprisingly a bit tricky due to massive Meteor spam in the later stages. Most commanders are ill-equipped to protect their troops...

Re: What are you playing right now?

Been away for a couple weeks and have done a lot of gaming stuff. So this will probably be a bit meandering... I finished Disco Elysium. The Switch version crashed several times (~10 total I think) but it was still worth playing. I expected it to branch a little bit more than it did. As is though it...

Re: TOP 64 — Week 2 — Poll 6

Dragon Warrior IV might not be absolutely peak Dragon Quest, but it's a great adventure that starts out simple. Love the final chapter bringing everything together. While I think the DS version is probably better overall, I have a soft spot for the original's translation - modern DQ translations fre...

Re: BOTTOM 320 — Week 4 — Poll 7

It's a darn shame that Plants vs Zombies isn't Plants vs Zombies anymore - it's either a free-to-play shell of its former self, or it's some kind of team shooting game. PvZ still holds up as a kind of actiony defense game - a good evolution of Insaniquarium, which was a little too clicky. PopCap mad...

My top 3 games in 2023: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (mostly my kid playing on my profile...) Don't Starve Together Sailing Era Runner ups include Chaos Galaxy, Xenoblade 3 (Future Redeemed, mostly), Star Ocean 2R in the 30s of hours. 1. Action 23% 2. Role playing 21% 3. Adventure 20% 4. Party 17% 5. ...

Re: What are you playing right now?

I beat Star Ocean 2R once, played for around another 10 hours on a Rena playthrough (long enough to wrap Linga stuff) and kinda stopped there. Mild character thoughts, possibly spoilery I guess. I disliked Precis and Opera both more than I thought I would - they're both young people going after olde...

Re: BOTTOM 320 — Week 2 — Poll 17

I agree that Path of Radiance is a better (certainly more interesting) game, but Skyrim is a monolith of the game industry - to the point where even non-gamers know about it, and many developers (particularly Japanese developers) list it as a major inspiration to them. It's not THE open-world pionee...

Re: BOTTOM 320 — Week 2 — Poll 9

It's really hard to vote for either of these genre pioneers against the other. I can see why there are so few votes in this one. I never played the first Civilization (unless the SNES version counts) but I loved Civ2 when it came out and I've been addicted to Unciv (Civ V clone) on my phone lately. ...
