Neither of these would be my true picks for 2014 Game of the Year, but out of this limited list, I've voted for Ultra Street Fighter IV and Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition. If I could only make one pick, it would be the latter. I've said it enough times throughout this competition, but this game is a really slick implementation of an old formula. At the core is a tight combat system with a variety of interesting skills/moves/abilities. This is layered over with a lovely art style and setting/world, with crazy characters, great music, and tons of hilarious visual gags. There's no convincing downside to this game.

Come on, somebody's gotta help put Wolfenstein back into contention. No way a couple of (excellent, BUT) updates to older games should be able to edge out this amazing, fresh spin on a beloved (and too often lackluster) franchise.

Shovel Knight is something I really enjoyed, and was probably the most worth while $15 video game I've ever bought.
