I liked it too. It's a generic, harmless mascot platformer. I think people mock it because they see it as an attempt to turn a second-rate mascot into a system-selling icon or something? Either way, I should get back to it sometime.

Beaten:
1/8 - Flywrench (PSN)
1/13 - Batman: The Telltale Series (PSN)
1/15 - Windjammers (PSN)
1/29 - Panzer Dragoon (Saturn)
2/5 - Hey! Pikmin (3DS)
2/5 - Panzer Dragoon II Zwei (Saturn)
A two beat day! Hey! Pikmin was a mediocre game that I think I enjoyed much more than it deserved. It found a cozy spot in my routine before bed or during occasional small breaks unsuitable for larger gaming endeavors. I bought the game near launch in July of last year, and it took me this long to get through its ~8 hr run time. I hardly ever played more than one or two levels at a time. And I think it worked great like that. I love the world of Pikmin, so I was charmed by the game in that respect, and the serviceable, unchallenging puzzle platforming was a nice way to unwind.
Panzer Dragoon II Zwei, meanwhile, was awesome. It's everything you could ask for in a sequel. It runs better than the first, looks better than the first, plays better than the first, and has more content than the first. And clocking in at only a little over an hour, it's a game I know I'll give repeat playthroughs over the years. A welcome addition to my still-budding Saturn library.

Re: 2018 Game Clear Thread
Flow was hugely disappointing it felt like there was no real goal unlike with flower and the fact that red mean forward and blue meant back confused me. Also the idea of going deeper into water made me feel smaller and felt like I was going backwards so for a long time I was eating blue food and getting no where until I looked up a guide.
LittleBigPlanet Vita is a gem and was really fun. The back touch pad stuff was annoying and felt really weird and I hate hate hated the tilt controls so there were 2-3 levels that drove me insane. Otherwise it was really fun to play and having strangers able to just jump is was a joy to have.
Xeodrifter I just beat this and used a guide to finish off the last collectibles as it seemed to be impossible to tell if the walls were fake or not. Having to fight the same boss 7 times was brutal especially considering I struggled with a certain part in the timing aspect which always made me lose a ton of health. Otherwise it's a great short Metroidvania game that was total worth the $3. Also my first :C: of the year.

Re: 2018 Game Clear Thread
I actually have Zwei, but not the first. I feel like I should maybe try to hunt the first one down, but I know it also got ported to e.g. PS2, so it's probably easier to find there. Heck, I think there's a PC version which should be even easier to find.Claytone wrote: ↑06 Feb 2018 07:32 Panzer Dragoon II Zwei, meanwhile, was awesome. Re: 2018 Game Clear Thread
Panzer Dragoon the First is certainly a worthy member of anyone's game collection. The PS2 port was never released in NA, and the PC version is likely too old to get to run reliably on Win10. It was, however, an unlockable in Panzer Dragoon Orta for clearing the game (and was based on the PC version, so it should look a little sharper). Orta is cheap on eBay and is supposed to be good in its own right. It's also compatible with 360, which I know you have. That may be about the easiest way to wrangle it. That or a Japanese copy for Saturn, which are also quite cheap. Just depends on if your Saturn is set up to play imports.

It is a pretty fun game. I laughed a lot. I also felt that some of the side quests were a little pointless. While you do get cash and can level up, I found that your actual skills golfing could make up for your level. I also never was able to try out the two player modes. The Shoemaker wrote: ↑11 Feb 2018 04:31Nice! Just starting it myself, working on the second course.
