BB doesn't like quality builds, try to focus on a main skill and flesh out areas as required. My next run I plan to a faith build, and I've already put together a Bloodtinge character that's a damn riot to use. No shortage of options, but you're still best served with a specialist, just like in the Souls games.

That cane whip is incredible. Terrible if you aren't pushing SKL, but spectacular if you are. It's the second fastest in the game and the whip mode has incredible stagger for mob control.

End of Day 2 update
Spoiler
Just went toe-to-toe with Vicar Amelia.
Got her down to 1/4 before I ran out of ressources and died.
Gonna restock and retry, this time taking some fire stuff along since she didn't seem to like it much.
As you can see, I killed Henryk in that questline around the pest doctor girl. I want her outfit...

Early thoughts on theme:
Spoiler
My first association I have gotten from this game, was with the movie Comapny of the Wolves, which is absically a collection of dark Red Riding Hood-style coming of age/puberty stories.

We have people turning into werewolf-like beasts (puberty/lust)
religious purity that got tainted (loss of innocence/lust)
a lot of blood (puberty/loss of innocence/birth)
umbilical cord items (birth)

Hunters may represent attempts to suppress the lust, eventually doomed to fall for it themselves
These are very early impressions, I don't feel like I have gotten far yet.

Staus update:
Spoiler
Vicar Amelia is no more. Boy, did I wreck her once I noticed that she isn't fireproof. Praise the Fire Paper"
Found an password door, guess the priest guys statement (only the scholars know the word) applies here.
Exit to a forested area with snipers and faster dogs. Some super fast thingies with guns in the other direction.
Made it past Yosemity Sam in the Old City and got jumped by some hunter (a Phantom maybe, the lunatic with the gun is still there), killed him and through the main building down to werewolf town where I opened a shortcut (thank god).
Also, is it just me or did the time progress after Amelia since it's now nighttime in Old Yharnam?

Spoiler
Defeating Amelia progresses the game from dusk to night. From here on out, things start to get mighty creepy.

Little addition:
Spoiler
Killed the blood-starved beast and got a chalice
Teleported to the save area and noticed a door is open (not sure when that happened)
Explored the area and found a locked door at the top and a pit at the bottom.
After several deaths trying to get down the pit, found the workshop (Interesting) and looted the area behind the door at the bottom. Guess that was all there is here for now.
Now to decide where to continue....
Either from the church into the dog/sniper woods (I assume thats where I am supposed to continue) or in the other direction where those fast bastards lurk. Also, not fully done with Lower Yharnam.
The fact that doors can suddenly open scares me a bit, since I encountered more than one locked door.

Don't worry too much about the end part of that post, if you keep certain locations in mind and follow the clues, you can avoid much aimless wandering, though you will encounter some backtracking. Even then, the game changes throughout, and you'll often find said backtracking results in some wow factor as major locations start to intertwine.

Was the BSB the "pushover"? I had one hell of a time with him on my first encounter (strength build). One of the best and creepiest bosses in the game, IMO.

Yes, beat him on first try. Had a lot of antidote on me and generally the fight felt like facing off against the vicars crippled little sibling. Used a Fire Paper too, seemed to help a lot here.

I take him on before the Vicar, that probably didn't help.
