Re: GOG Last Chance Sale
Maybe problems with the new pricing method? But there's nothing on the list for me anyway. The only two ready for Mac games, I already got on Steam.
Re: GOG Last Chance Sale
There's a lot of wild speculation about this, but there are a couple official statements out there that (somewhat surprisingly) agree on the reason: Apparently it's because of GOG's policy of offering games in local currencies instead of at set amounts. Nordic Games claims that keeping up with exchange rates is too much work. Frictional Games claims the dynamic/local pricing model doesn't take into account "purchasing power" of different regions—stating that games should be more expensive in e.g. Sweden.TheGreatNads wrote:Why are these games being de-listed?

Re: GOG Last Chance Sale
The only games in the list that I like (and already bought) are Freedom Force vs the Third Reich and Desperados (got Amnesia on Steam).
Frankly, I won't miss most of the games and played several of them while they were 'new' and yet underwhelming.
I kinda had the urge to pick up Gothic 2 though. I never played it before, only its predecessor and that one was a mess. However it was an ambitious mess with good ideas, atrocious controls and ridiculously bad balancing. Since a lot of people used to tell me how Gothic 2 was better, with slightly less terrible controls and balancing, I may give it a shot at some point.

Re: GOG Last Chance Sale
I kind of feel like I shouldn't support these developers by buying these games—even at a discount—for pulling their games from the GOG service for such a silly reason.

GOG is having a 6th birthday celebration, with games marked down by as much as 80%, and a rotation of different games each day.

Re: GOG Sales
Kiwi just mentioned that King of Dragon Pass is on sale for $1.49 until Sunday. I haven't played it before, but it does look terrific, so I just bought it.

Re: GOG Sales
M&B is a fantastic game, although M&B:Warband is a vastly improved version of the same. I've spent at least several hundred hours on them (likely in the low thousands).Kiwi the Tortoise wrote: Also you can claim a free copy of Mount & Blade http://www.gog.com/game/mount_blade
Even better than M&B on its own, there is a fantastic modding community (again, mostly better for Warband) and the best mod I've played for any game, The Last Days, is for the original M&B ( http://www.moddb.com/mods/the-last-days ).
The Last Days is a Lord of the Rings themed mod and has you playing as an anonymous soldier on the side of Gondor, Rohan, Isengard, Mordor, or any of the factions in the North (goblins, dwarves, rivendell, mirkwood, probably others). It's the most incredible action-rpg-wargame I've played, and back in the day many of its features inspired those added in Warband.
