I find DQ much better on the micro level (town vignettes) than macro (find and fight fairly generic Big Bad), but I'll give it a shot! Doesn't seem like the epilogue is too long, so I'll soldier on.

Re: 2021 Game Clear Thread
Alright, I finally finished all modes in Picross S5 with no hints and no support features. Moving on to Grindstone as my sole active Switch game now, at least while I try to finish this FF7R plat.

Re: 2021 Game Clear Thread
I remember enjoying Beyond Oasis on Wii. One of the many genesis games introduced to me through virtual console. I liked the game, but remember movement being a bit of a pain.Claytone wrote: ↑24 Jan 2021 01:26 Beaten:

Another one knocked out on the baby Genesis. Really liked this one. Combat feels good and is a bit more nuanced than the Zelda games that so clearly inspired it. Really pretty game too. Maybe my favorite thing about it was that I knocked it out in about 5h30m. Just enough time for the game to get its hooks in you but not so long that it overstays its welcome. Nice break from the lengthier DQ and Yakuza games I've been playing the past few months (with that said, it's probably time to get back to beating Dragon Quest IV!). I think I'll try to grab the Saturn sequel, but it's awfully expensive on eBay. That said, I am by no means above buying a repro disc.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time (PS4)
The game was a blast however there's literally no motivation for me to complete the game since some of the challenges are just so insanely hard that it's just too overwhelming. I was going to collect and finish all the flashback tapes but the Last levels flashback tape is basically at the end of the level and I died over 60 times to beat that level with checkpoints. Restarting levels is so slow that it just feels like a chore.
Other than that the games so much fun and I really enjoyed the masks.

Bowser's Fury was a nice add on to super Mario 3D World. Fun to see traditional Mario mechanics in a 3D space like Mario 64.

Beaten:
1/1 - Tetris Effect (PS4)
1/5 - Yakuza 3 Remastered (PS4 [PS3])
1/15 - Altered Beast (Genesis Mini)
1/23 - Beyond Oasis (Genesis Mini)

2/3 - Captain Commando (Switch [Arcade])
2/5 - Gradius V (PS2)
2/19 - Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen (DS [NES])
3/16 - Mr. Bones (Saturn)
Ghosts 'n Goblins: Resurrection has been an absolute beast, so I still haven't beaten it! Soon hopefully! To take a break from GnG's unrelenting difficulty, I beat Mr. Bones over the course of a couple evenings, which arrived from Japan a week or two ago. It's a cute, ambitious game about a skeleton traveling across the land to defeat the very sorcerer that resurrected him with the power of music. It's a weird multi-genre game that at times is a victim of its scattershot nature but was mostly endearing. It is at least thoroughly unique. Not something any collectors on here should be rushing out to buy, but it's not bad.

Yeah, I agree it's a bit awkward, but I liked dashing around everywhere. I also like the inclusion of button combos to do different attacks, which wasn't so much of a thing in Zelda at the time. Neat game. The Shoemaker wrote: ↑25 Feb 2021 00:14 I remember enjoying Beyond Oasis on Wii. One of the many genesis games introduced to me through virtual console. Re: 2021 Game Clear Thread
Paper Mario: The Origami King - Fantastic game absolutely ruined by it's horrid battle system. I think had they added a leveling system this would have been great however the battles after a while felt horrible. On the other hand I loved the boss battles they were very enjoyable. The story was Fantastic and is the reason I continued playing. I highly recommend the game to anyone that likes other paper mario games if they don't mind the annoying battling.
I'm happy with my current pace with beating games too which is good. This year is looking very much like a clean up year with how busy I am I don't plan on buying many games. Skyward Sword possibly being the only title.
