Magikarp Jump

So this is a "game" that exists. It's about training Magikarp to jump. You have to train your Magikarp to have an arbitrarily high stat to get higher than a certain number in the various league battles, then retire and start again with another Magikarp.

Has anyone tried this?

Yes, I've tried it. Deleted it afterwards as I did not like the concept. Maybe kids will like it or die-hard pokémon fans, but not me.

I've always been a huge fan of Magikarp. Very amusing concept for a Pokémon, IMO. Even went to the effort to get one inducted to the HOF in Gen III, and I bred a shiny 'Karp in Pokémon Y.

Downloaded this but haven't really done anything past the tutorial. I think it maybe an amusing clicker game. I'll give it a more earnest try sometime soon and post my thoughts.

I'm also a big Magikarp fan.

My problem with this game is... I can't really figure out what it's for? You don't really... do anything?

You advance through the league by largely clicking things. It's literally a Clicker Game. Like, that's a genre. Its intent is to entertain you for very short bursts like bus rides. It's not supposed to be deep. Most of the "actions" you take are essentially just cutscenes that boost your numbers randomly. It's cute and involves 'Karp, so I like it (I also like how they added scale pattern variations!!)

It's also theoretically beatable, so I guess I'll try to do that. I like it. <3

I did the first "jump" and immediately deleted it when I found out that was it :p I do like the morbidity of trashing your magicarp if it fails, and the goal of evolving to a Garados.
