I installed it out of curiosity. It's different from Pokémon Go in a couple of immediate ways: it's loaded with pay-to-play mechanics (from paying $0.10 to avoid the wait time while your potion brews or paying $0.40 to get missing ingredients to giving you notifications for "discounts" on the microtransactions).
For someone who's been happy to play Fire Emblem Heroes and Pokémon Go free-to-play, this cash bent simply makes it easier for me to play Harry Potter in a much more casual way.
The fact that you're also not collecting and powering up monsters, but simply unlocking pictures in what's essentially a sticker book, also makes it easier to play a bit more casually.
