To its credit, I'm glad Aria got this far because it is indeed the best non-classicvania Castlevania game, but Skies is better.

R-Type is great, but the third-best modern (post-PS1) Final Fantasy game is better.

It should additionally be noted that there are three excellent Metcastlevanias in this current batch/round: Super Metroid, Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, and Hollow Knight... and the best game among them is the only one whose title isn't awkwardly represented in the terrible genre portmantfaux.

I love Super Metroid, but it does suffer a little bit from its own success—basically being the base template for every Metroid game, many of which (by necessity) iterate on it in interesting ways.
