Re: 2016 US Presidential Election
*shrug* Still not as bad as banks. I take it for granted that pretty much no candidate is going to piss of bankers. Although generally speaking these days banks in the U.S. aren't the ones calling for austerity or anything like that either. I think the percentage of his funding coming from small do...

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election
The part of the infographic I found most interesting was an area that wasn't fact-checked, namely the bit about where the two candidates got their financing from. While Clinton having the support of the bankers, and Sanders having that of unions is to many people going to look like a sign of Sanders...

Re: Football... of all sorts!
There's been a bit of an Australian theme going, so I'm just wondering if Slurmee or anyone else has been paying attention to the Jarryd Hayne hype? He's kind of a unique athlete as regards NFL players as far as I can tell. Not terribly fast or explosive, but very smooth and decisive in his cuts, go...

Re: 2015 Canadian Federal Election
Fourth. Damnit. That wasn't criticism for assumptions you're not making, that's an obviously intentionally exaggerated version your assumption, which you helpfully elucidate in this very paragraph. And given that you keep trying to put "some potential doom in the future" in my mouth, the ...

Re: 2015 Canadian Federal Election
Do you think I mean another Harper term would cause the Canadian economy to crumble and society to disintegrate into a bleak dystopia where every man has to don hockey gear and fight for his share of the dwindling maple syrup crop until the nation ultimately dissociates into warring states and is e...

Re: 2015 Canadian Federal Election
and another term would risk damaging Canada almost beyond repair. Talk about over the top. You and Vic are beginning to sound like those people who said if Obama is elected people are going to start being thrown into FEMA camps, or the U.S. will become the next Greece or whatever silliness. Partisa...

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election
Well, it seems all but one reply in this thread expresses the same exact idea I would have. Only thing I can add is that a Trump vs. Sanders battle really would emphasize a bit of a shift in agendas in the U.S. and would be exactly what the political establishment would not have expected or wanted t...

Re: What Podcasts do you listen to?
I used to listen to podcasts fairly regularly, but not much anymore. I listen to EconTalk when there is an interesting guest/topic. As is obvious from the name, it's an economics podcast. Aside from that I can't think of any podcasts I have listened to lately. I guess every once in a while I'll list...
