Re: Top 128: 12/16 - Final Bracket IV
Not to mention some of the best music on the NES. I also thought the "magic" system was incredibly well-implemented. The way your tactician determines which "spells" you have access to, and then the intelligence of your commanders in the field determining how successful they are...

Re: Top 128: 12/16 - Final Bracket IV
On the fence on FFIV. I have pretty strong nostalgia for it, but I'm not sure it stands on its own independent of that nostalgia. 6 is more interesting and more innovative. DOAE on the other hand will always get my vote. Enemy recruitment before it was really a thing, well written/translated story, ...

Re: Top 128: 7/16 - Chrono Bracket
I hate Europa Universalis IV as much as I like it. If I hadn't started playing it, I could have beaten so many other good games.

Re: Top 128: 3/16 - Dark Bracket
Used all four. Dark Souls pretty clearly deserves a vote, in my book. So does FF Tactics. Symphony of the Night also feels like an obvious choice - subgenre pioneer and one of the most refined action/RPG game experiences out there, with lots of secret things to be found. Space Rangers 2, I think I n...

Suikoden II with a deservedly high seed, pretty happy with that!
Voted for S2 and P4 Golden. I'm not super happy with the added plot content in Golden, but the mechanical refinements improve a lot on the game.

Re: Top 128: 1/16 - Bracket Prime
Haven't voted yet, but I'm tempted to vote for just Mario Kart 8, since it's the best Kart game since 64 (and I think the best ever, to be honest). I like Dragon Warrior's legacy but have yet to play the actual game. Scheherezade I remember liking as an early action-RPG, but although I tracked down ...

Re: Qualifying Poll 3/10: Seven Days
You know all those SNES RPGs you always hear about? The golden age of classic JRPGs and whatnot? All those Final Fantasy games that got so much acclaim. Yeah, they're excellent games. Lufia II is better. Along with Chrono Trigger , this is probably the pinnacle of the genre. It has emotional impact...

Re: Qualifying Poll 2/10: Seven Deadly Sins
Man, it's cool to see not one but two great exploration-based games here! I picked up Star Control II when Accolade (sp?) was selling it as a download on their site - probably two years before Ur-Quan Masters was announced. Needed to set up a boot disc for the first time in a few years. No regrets! ...

Re: OBJECTION! - BGE Grievances
I'm just gonna take this moment to again bemoan the fact that Persona 3 is very likely going to lose to a game as mediocre as Luigi's Mansion . One post about it just isn't enough. It is disappointing that a powerhouse JRPG of the PS2 era that practically created its own subgenre and introduced so ...

Re: Round 6: Cerberus
It got 3 votes and then disappeared into oblivion. It won't advance to the next round. RF3 was the first good one, but I didn't think RFF was terrible. RFF could have been great if not for the godawful runey system which ruined everything. ToD had a lot of good ideas, but suffered from lag is...
