Re: Round 6: The Cattle of Geryon

There are a ton of games that are borderline for me. In this bracket... Shadowrun SNES is great (as is Shadowrun GEN, interesting to see two different implementations of the same system turn out so well) and so is Vampire, but while they're both great games I'd heartily recommend to someone, I have ...

Re: Round 6: The 9-Headed Lernaean Hydra

I don't think Dynasty Warriors gets enough credit for this. DW3 is certainly the first game in the series where it was a completely viable feature. The fact that you and your teammate could split up and tackle these huge maps completely separately was thrilling at the time. I remember being in a bi...

Re: Round 6: The Ceryneian Hind

Ah did they skip X or was it a MOBA or shooter or something weird? Japan-only MMO (on like 4 platforms). Never came here. Sounded like it wasn't that great. /edit: I voted for DQ8, hoping that 3DS port comes here (especially if it runs faster). I would probably vote for Ogre Battle if I had investe...

Re: Round 6: Cerberus

I liked Rune Factory 4 a lot myself, and it's a great relaxing game, but I'll have to think about whether I want to vote for it here. I'm impressed it's gotten so much support. I figured it had flown under the radar like all the previous ones (and - let's be honest - RF3 was the first really good on...

Re: Round 6: The Nemean Lion

Wow, Persona 3's in pretty rough shape! I do actually prefer the PSP version, simply because it runs so much faster than the PS2 version (and only one or two cutscenes were really that good, anyway). I remember being (pleasantly) surprised when Persona 3 came out, since I enjoyed the first and the s...

Re: Round 6: The 9-Headed Lernaean Hydra

First round where I've voted for more than two games, and I voted for four: DW3, Cave Story, Persona 4, Crusader Kings. I still have fond memories of coming home from a trip abroad (including a flight cancellation, 9 hour flight, attempting to negotiate with the US airline which had cancelled my tra...

Re: Round 6: The Stymphalian Birds

Voted for DQ5. I'm a JRPG nut and actually have multiple DQ slime memorabilia at my work desk, but DQ5 and 8 are really the only ones I like enough that I'd vote for them. It was Parish's DQ5 review that got me to play it in the first place, so I'm going to simply agree with him here as he writes mu...

Re: Wasteland 2

Do you think that stuff is pretty much in line with the console version that came out (specifically: controller support)? In other words, do you know if the console version is just this director's cut version, or did they make any more changes and updates to accommodate home console play? From what...

Re: Wasteland 2

Director's cut was released last week. Anybody pick it up? The PC changes are a little underwhelming, but it's surprisingly fun to replay with more knowledge of how the areas work. They added "perks" (like Fallout series, periodic bonuses you get every three or four levels) and "quirk...

Re: Round 5 tie-breaker: Final Fantasy: Arkham City

I have fondness for FFL3, but I have a really hard time thinking of it as better than its predecessor, which was more imaginative, more interesting, and more internally consistent. Either of its predecessors for that matter.

It did have some cool parts, but I don't see it as BGE material.
