Re: BOTTOM 112 — Week 1 — Poll 18
Yeah this was a tough decision but I had to throw in with Link to the Past, especially knowing DOOM is still in the top 16. I can live with the idea of DOOM carrying the DOOM torch.

Re: BOTTOM 112 — Week 1 — Poll 26
I see you've already voted against PC Spelunky in Poll 11. Is there a meaningful difference between XB360 Spelunky and PC? I've only played PS3/Vita versions. I would've assumed they're all the same. The PC original is pretty stripped down / the XBLA remake (which was subsequently ported everywhere...

Re: BOTTOM 112 — Week 1 — Poll 19
The apotheosis of Street Fighter can only go so far, particularly when it's up against one of the biggest, best, deepest, and dirtiest Hollowvania Souls-likes in the business.

Re: BOTTOM 112 — Week 1 — Poll 26
Damn, this is a tricky one for me because I really enjoy Lodis, but I also think Spelunky belongs higher than this and should definitely survive longer.

Re: TOP 32 — Poll 16 of 16
It was in the (weird) 2019 event: it was eliminated in the Round of 32 with a final rank of 21st place overall, pretty good showing.SkyPikachu wrote: ↑11 Feb 2024 10:52 Is this the first time Celeste has been in the BGE? If it was in the last one what ranking did it get?

These look rad! My question with any retro game that looks like this is always... how well is it executed? If you're vouching for it, I trust it enough to give it a try. Thanks for posting!

Re: TOP 32 — Poll 1 of 16
This is looking like a bit of an upset so far. I think Ultima IV's flipping the script on the standard RPG flow still makes it stand out. While most modern AAA RPGs are over here with just paragon/renegade style dialogues or at best faction affinities or reputations, you really have to walk the wal...

Re: TOP 32 — Poll 8 of 16
Odyssey is good, but Half-Life was one of the first big successes of modding - something that PC users of games now take largely for granted is that quality mods will emerge - and even on other platforms, mods / user-created content are becoming more possible. Odyssey is more of a refinement of the...

Re: TOP 32 — Poll 2 of 16
I'm torn on this one because DQ5 is indeed the bomb, but The Legend of Zelda gave us open-ended exploration without hand-holding, which is the best kind of video game. The Legend of Zelda 1 gave us Dark Souls. I will take a few days to think about this.
