Resident Evil was a game changer (get it?!?!). Honestly though it’s not the best survival horror game but it broadened what games are able to do.

Breath of the Wild is just more Zelda.

I’ll have to abstain here. Galaxy is good but not sure if I’d like it more than Hades or not…

Portal balances snappy pacing and story progression with great individual puzzle gameplay and difficulty ramping. Nice and tight, never really sags like its sequel does in parts. Also responsible for a host of "portal mechanics" showing up in other games across genres, for better or worse...

R-Type gets my vote because it’s a better game…

I know Rondo isn’t highly acclaimed around here but just wanted to reiterate that I think it’s the best non-metroidvania Castlevania out there. I didn’t think so before scouring it but it’s truly an incredible game.

Oom-fwaa? Oom-fwaa?

Warsong (perhaps the best Genesis game) is much more compelling to me than a remake of an admittedly good NES game.
