Sharecrow's son should decide the result of this poll.

Ugh, both these games are amazing. I dunno if I can choose here. I'm leaning toward X though.

Mega Man 2 is a nearly perfect game.
Mega Man X is also a nearly perfect game.
Putting these two head-to-head like this basically forces one to acknowledge some of the few weaknesses in the original classic. The balancing is a bit out of kilter (Metal Man destroying everything). Some of the design elements are a little sketchy (the Crash wall boss, allowing players to screw themselves over against the final boss, etc.). By contrast, X manages to execute perfectly. The upgrade system fits into the game really nicely, but there's no over-burden of crazy powers and abilities and controls. You feel like a superhero when you're playing this game. It gets my vote.

X does everything better than 2 so it's a no brainer.
Drumble doesn't respect the sigs so here's a link to my backloggery

It doesn't kick-start a franchise as well as 2 does, and it doesn't sell as many copies as 2 does.Slurmee wrote:X does everything better than 2 so it's a no brainer.

Sales aren't a factor if a single play game is good or not. It kick starting the series though is a legitimate reason.Kong Wen wrote:It doesn't kick-start a franchise as well as 2 does, and it doesn't sell as many copies as 2 does.Slurmee wrote:X does everything better than 2 so it's a no brainer.

Sales are also a legitimate reason, because this is the "BEST GAME EVER!!!" Contest.Slurmee wrote:Sales aren't a factor if a single play game is good or not. Personally, it's a "yawn" from me rather than a vote.

I will never understand the adoration for X over Classic Mega Man.
Let me be clear. I beat Mega Man X in one sitting. I think it's very good.
But the feel of playing Mega Man 2 cannot be topped. X just doesn't feel nearly as smooth and sharp, and I cannot describe why. But it's a sticking point for me, and MM2 is my vote.
