This was a tough one, two game series reaching what is arguably their pinnacle.

Ultimately I voted for Wind Waker (GC) because I believe it has a timelessness that is rare in post 2D gaming that SMG will probably fail to achieve over the same timescale. Those cell shaded graphics alone were a more daring move than anything SMG did and it was a good example of a time when Nintendo pursued artistic vision over other factors. That it ended up dealing with more "adult" themes than both it's "grown-up" sequels also works in its favour.

I feel dirty voting for a Zelda game over a Mario game.
That said, I can't stand Galaxy, while WW is my fave Zelda...which doesn't mean much, but still.

I liked Super Mario Galaxy 2 better than Wind Waker. From the little of Super Mario Galaxy I've played it's only a downgrade from 2 thus I voted Wind Waker.

This is true. Super Mario Galaxy 2 is much better than Galaxy, which is why I feel butthurt that Galaxy got further.

I never played 2 which is probably one of the main reasons I never supported it here. I'm sure I'd have loved it as I thought 1 was fantastic...

Yeah, I'm thinking less people played the sequel. The level design was top notch in number 2.
