BGE Side-Events

We'll start posting side-events this weekend. These are themed mini-contests, like "BEST SNES GAME EVER!!!" or "BEST CASTLEVANIA EVER!!!" and so on. What would you like to see as a side-event? Please bear in mind that it should be something that's easy to sort out using the data we're already tracking, so things like "BEST HORIZONTAL SHMUP EVER!!!" would be difficult, because I don't know which games you nominated belong to what genres.

Years, systems, and series are the easiest bets, but we can also start pulling themes based on past BGE events, like e.g. best game that lost rank this year, best new game since the last BGE, best game that didn't make the BGE this year, etc.

Let's hear your suggestions!

A best game for each gen. Take the 8 or so highest ranking games from each gen and let them duke it out.

Best games on Spore's nominations list that got knocked out during the first round. Alternative title for next year's BGE if people finally decide to play some stuff. "I told you so!". Pluv's idea is good too.

I'd like to see a non-franchise/one-off contest. If I never see a Metroid/Mario/Pokémon game again, it'll be too soon.

Would best game by producer make sense? Like best Sega game, best Capcom, etc?
