That said, dismissing Metroid Prime because the best argument for it is "It's Metroid, but an FPS!" makes about as much sense as dismissing SM64 because the best argument for it is "It's Mario, but in 3D!"

I dismissed it for much less of a reason than "It's Metroid, but an FPS!" I don't like the game quite simply. I was just making an observation(maybe some people disagree?) that most of the praise I see of the game expresses little more than that. They talk about how amazing it is that Nintendo managed to translate a Metroid game to the FPS format and how they are surprised it worked etc.
