I played a lot of Smash Bros. on 3DS, over 200 hours I'm pretty sure, compared to the 30-40 hours on the Wii U version. I think the Wii U one is better in that it had much more variety in content and better stage selection, but for me it couldn't compare to having the game on the go. I really liked Smash Run and the game in general was great to have on the bus. I had also already put in 100 hours by the time the Wii U version came out so I didn't really feel compelled to beat classic mode and find all the custom moves and trophies all over again.

Stick of Truth doesn't deserve to win. It's an entertaining game, and it's kinda fun, but it's not a great game. It has a lot of problems with it, chief among which is that it's way too easy.

Mario Kart 8 and South Park are my easy to votes. Possibly my 1st and 2nd favorite game of 2014.

South Park was a great game, for what it was. It didn't pretend to be anything else. I voted for that, and Mario Kart. I love Smash 3DS, but it doesn't hold a candle to the Wii U version. Since the Wii U game was released, the only major thing the 3DS game has going for it is Smash Run. Not enough to put it above a short and quirky RPG.

This is kind of a not great bracket—well, a mix of weak games and games I haven't spent much time with—to the point that I have to consider voting for the rather quite good South Park. I wouldn't have pegged it as a GotY for 2014, but it's certainly better than a lot of the competition here.

Wolfenstein: The New Order is by far and away one of the greatest FPS games I've played in quite a long time. Of 2014? It was the greatest, bar none.

I'll actually vote for Smash Bros. 3DS here. It's impressive that they managed to put smash bros. on a portable system, and they did a pretty damn good job of it all things considered. Additionally, with DLC they've managed to keep it continually relevant, which is also impressive even if some might complain of gouging.

I went for Mario Kart 8 because I found Smash 3DS rather overrated and did not care for any of the others on the list.
