This is an easy one: of all the movies you watched in 2015, which one was your favourite? Tell us a little bit about it.
It doesn't have to be a movie that came out in 2015.

Re: Fave movie you watched in 2015?
I have two: Star Wars: The Force Awakens because, well, you know, and Ant-Man which I found to be the most delightful and fun filled Marvel movie since Iron Man. It never took itself seriously and was just about the ride.

I watched so many movies this year like 3-4 movies a week.
The good dinosaur is my favorite movie I saw in the cinemas (yet to see Star Wars)

Definitely Star Wars. Still thinking about it a week later. I just love the characters.
I do still need to see Ant-Man, which looks to be pretty good.
I saw the Dark Knight Rises for the first time this year which I also thought was well done, despite hearing some criticism about it.

Here are the movies I watched this year:
The Babadook
The Iron Giant
The Imitation Game
Birdman: Or, the Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance
Theory of Everything
Edge of Tomorrow [x2]
How to Train Your Dragon 2
Interstellar [x3]
Avengers: Age of Ultron [x2]
Serenity [x2]
Man of Steel
Ant-Man
Whiplash [x2]
An Honest Liar [x2]
WALL-E
The Martian
Ex Machina
Spectre
Skyfall
Gravity
Elysium
Creed
Mad Max: Fury Road
Frank
Star Wars: The Force Awakens [x3]
Sicario
Movie titles in red are the ones I had already seen before 2015, so they don't count.
A few of these were great, well-acted films (The Imitation Game, Birdman, Theory of Everything, Whiplash). Avengers was a fun action romp, good for watching IMAX and eating popcorn, but it wasn't as good as the first one. I felt the same way about Ant-Man: it was fun and silly. The Martian and Creed were both good stories. Mad Max really surprised me with how good it was all the way through, with its sustained action and interesting world-building.
Star Wars is probably my favourite movie of the year. Great characters, excellently-acted. Amazing chemistry/dynamics between the whole cast. Good plot that really feels like it's part of the same story as the original trilogy—we're seeing another slice of the same battle that was raging decades ago.
Second place would probably go to Creed, and then third place to Mad Max.

I'm missing serious notables here, so it's a bit early for me to call it, but Mad Max was the most fun I've had in theatres since the original Jurassic Park. Just in terms of pure cinematic experiences, Star Wars and Hateful 8 have their work cut out for them. Will report back.

I'm going to go watch Sisters today so we'll see if it can top Star Wars

Die Hard. It's got a bit of everything for everyone. Story, action, comedy. There's even a budding romance between two police officers from different coasts for the more sensitive type.

Just watched Horns and it's a pretty nifty little thriller. Never saw it in the theaters so I only saw it at home. Its a little predictable at times but everyone is comitted to the film so it works and Daniel Radcliffe gives probably his best performance ever

Thanks for reminding me of this one! I wanted to see it because it looks so weird, but then I forgot about it.squishy wrote:Just watched Horns and it's a pretty nifty little thriller.
