So there is some extra effort.
That bumps the price I'd be willing to pay up to $6.

The pricing on eShop is weird right now. Wii U SNES games are still $8, while the same SNES games have the Canadian increase on new 3DS at $11. Same thing with Pokemon, none of the other GB games have the Canadian increase, but Pokemon is $12.50, and $10 in the US.

Either way I would call it the Pokemon tax. Sure they added the ability to wirelessly trade, but they also added wireless multiplayer to other VC games without bumping the price. Pokemon can be transferred to Pokemon Bank now... but we're already paying $5 a year for Pokemon Bank, so also charging extra for that in these GB releases is silly. It's just Pokemon tax.

Ugh, shady. I didn't know about that Pokémon Bank stuff either. I think I'll just dig my cart up and play it on my GCN or something. Screw this nonsense.

Hey, man. I've got something better for ya:

*opens trenchcoat full of ROMs*

All the cool kids use emulators, man. You can even link Red and Blue together and catch 'em all without all the hassle. Whaddaya say?

But but but... that's illegal! Wouldn't that negatively impact a multi-billion dollar transnational corporation's bottom line in some abstract philosophical way while having negligible actual legal repercussions?

I've actually been craving a Pokemon experience now that I'm playing Go everyday. I don't think I want to try the originals so hopefully I can wait for sun/moon. I also really want to play a Pokemon game that interacts with Go in some way, so yeah, I just want sum/moon :p

I think Game Freak really need to step their game up with Sun and Moon this time around. I think it's likely the games will be gettIng even more attention from the success of Pokemon Go. They need to make sure the games are as easy and convenient to play as Pokemon Go, which means less text popping up everywhere, smoother interactions within menu's and battles, and figuring out a better way to use HM's.

So far I like what I've seen. Non-grid movement is great, same with being able to tell the range of which trainers can see you. I also like that you can easily see what each move does in battle. Hyper Training also has the potential to make training much less tedious.

I really hope sneaking is back from omega/alpha, haven't seen it so far but that was a great feature!

How do they interact with GO?

LOL, and I guess they should make their games freeze every 2 minutes, crash, refuse input, not recognize when a player has performed an action or caught a Pokémon, etc. :)

I don't think they've said yet. At the very least I wouldn't be surprised if you get item bonuses for connecting the app and games, something like that. I doubt there will be direct trading.

Lol, I think you know what I mean. The interface is clean, game opens up with very few tutorials, minimal pop ups interrupting game flow, battles and pokestops are instant. During optimal performance of course.

Eh, GO is only that smooth in that department because there are no mechanics. There's no combat, no progression/advancement, etc. Just wildly tapping on things. It'd be nigh impossible to replicate that minimalism in an actual RPG—and I sure hope they don't try to pare down the mainline series along those lines.

Current Pokemon battles take way too long between turns, health drops at a very slow rate, delays between menu's, there's no quick results screen (you have to press A through every Pokemon leveling up). It's a lot of minor annoyances. Yeah Pokemon Go avoids a lot of that because it's a simplistic battle, but the point is the experience is quick. I think smartphone players are going to expect that going forward. That doesn't mean simplifying, just speeding the whole process up.

This applies a lot to the rest of the games outside of battling as well.
