By my tally, and in no particular order, these are the handful of things the Switch needs to do (soon) in order to be able to compete with PS3 and Xbox 360. These are all very attainable goals, so this should by no means be misinterpreted as a "system is shit!" post, rather a "Nintendo can do better" post:

• Fix left JoyCon desync error
• Wireless/BlueTooth headset support
• Get rid of Friend Codes
• Some kind of Trophy/Achievement system, maybe piggybacking on My Nintendo
• A way to transfer/backup save files + cloud storage for save files for online service subscribers
• Cross-game party chat (using the app at the very least, in the interim, but ultimately something in-OS)
• Netflix, YouTube, and other multimedia apps
• Browser
• Virtual Console

This is all the low-hanging fruit.

Joy con desync was fixed with the day one update, and friend codes are only one of the options on how to add people. Most of the other stuff is confirmed as coming soon

JoyCon de-sync was not fixed with the day one update, but Nintendo has said they're looking into it.

Friend Codes are currently the only way of adding someone who's not standing directly in front of you, matchmade against you in game, or on one of your unrelated mobile game lists. There's no way to search by ID, but Nintendo has said they're looking into it. Speaking of which, what's your friend code squish? Post it up, or else add mine (posted above).

Nintendo has indeed said some of the other stuff is maybe coming soon ("soon" meaning this year), but it's 100% worth tracking these problems so we can tick them off our checklists when they're fixed.
