When you boot up F-Zero, it's actually just the ROM for Bubsy in Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind.

Slightly interested in this, but will need to know more about the specs. Already got 13 of the games in some form and don't want to get the old PAL versions (again).

Just checked on the dutch nintendo site: "Opmerking: alle games die op het Nintendo Classic Mini: Super Nintendo Entertainment System staan, zijn de oorspronkelijk Amerikaanse versies in 60 Hz.". That makes me more interested.

Nice!! I was going to suggest flying to New York and waiting in line at the Nintendo store, but it looks like you get the North American rate!

It's probably because, outer casing aside, the European model IS just the NA version. Look at the list of titles. There was no 'Contra 3' in Europe, it was Super Probotector. There was no 'Starfox' it was 'Starwing'. Earthbound and Final Fantasy III were never released in Europe.

It seems the business plan for this one has altered from "cheap impulse buy for nostalgics" to "less cheap must-have for all of those hardcore gamers who bought so many NES classics that there were none left for our original target market."

The inclusion of 2 Kirby games on the European version also tells you that this isn't aimed at nostalgics as I don't recall even knowing who Kirby was until Super Smash Bros came out for the N64.

Super Tennis and the Super Soccer (which the Japanese are getting) would probably have been played by more people in Europe than any of the Kirby games were.

It's an interesting about turn from Nintendo who have always insisted that things like the VC must cater to nostalgia perfectly, including the awful 50hz issues you mention.

Of course, none of this matters since we'll probably be lucky to even see one on a shop shelf with the way things are going. A shame, as unlike the NES, the SNES was actually very popular in Europe.

Mega Man Soccer would have been a fun sports title to include!

I really hope I can get one of these. I don't want to have to buy a real SNES. My wife already is not thrilled at my N64 collecting.

Although, I just noticed that Super Famicoms are really cheap. I could import one from Japan for under 30 USD.

You can get an American SNES for pretty cheap too. Not trying to encourage any bad habits, I'm just saying. SNES isn't the most expensive thing to collect for.

Well, getting an SNES itself isn't too expensive, nor are most of the good games. But when you start looking for RPGs, it can get expensive. I'm led to believe that the price of carts has been steadily increasing since my collector days. Fortunately, this is moot for ol' Kriggles, who doesn't tend to favour the RPGs.

Yup. Not super into the Role Playing Giggles. Tried to Secret of Mana. Tried with Earthbound. Tried with Shining Force. Tried with Super Mario RPG.

The only ones I could get into were Paper Mario and Pokemon Red.

For ease of cabinet space, I just want the classic. Plus I don't have a CRT tv at my house, so the HDMI would be welcome. Will probably get one eventually from my parents house if I ever move into a much bigger house and the wife lets me make a true retro game room with my pinball machine and old consoles.
