Picked up Shadow of Mordor when it was on sale for $6. What a steal that ended up being, it was a great game. Don't think I'll bother with all the DLC stuff though. Satisfied with the base game.

Beaten:
1/7 - Dead Rising 4 (Xbone)
1/15 - Pokémon Luna (3DS)
1/22 - Bayonetta 2 (Wii U)
2/4 - Double Dragon IV (PSN)
2/5 - The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD (Wii U)
2/20 - Uncharted: Drake's Fortune Remastered (PS4 [PS3])
3/26 - The Legend of Zelda (3DS [NES])
3/29 - The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Switch)
6/18 - ARMS (Switch)
8/12 - Mega Man 7 (PS4 [SNES])
Grabbed the Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 during Amazon's Prime Day price glitch for a cool 3 bucks and change. I already owned these games on scattered systems, but it was nice to have these four in one place with some trophies to shoot for and on the system I currently play the most of. Beating MM7 means that all I've got left are 5, 6, 8, and MM&B to finish off the Classic series.
Really enjoyed 7. I had heard tales that the final boss was fiendishly difficult, which was true! I lost to him many times despite chugging five (!) E-Tanks per try. Then I discovered something (that I won't spoil) that the game doesn't tell you about one of the weapons that makes this fight MUCH easier. I still had to chew through a pair of E-Tanks, but I took him down. I like the ending to this one. Again, no spoilers, but it's the most interesting of the series, I think.
Also, I grabbed all the secret items and such, so this is my first Completed game of the year!

Complete:

(Feb 24) Super Mario Run - Tour Mode (IOS)
(April 11) Snake Pass (Switch)
(April 26) Shovel Knight - Specter of Torment (Switch)
(July 8) The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (Switch)
Yooka Laylee ended up being a pretty solid 3d platformer. It's main issues like the camera and performance were fixed in an update that made the game much more enjoyable. I'm tempted to go for the complete with this one, but I probably won't. Evoked feelings of the n64 platformer days, but didn't quite reach them I'd say.

Finished Slime-San today. Really solid indie title, took me just under 15 hours to beat it with the majority of the collectables. I could easily double my play time if I wanted to do new game plus along with all the extras, but I think I'm satisfied with the base experience.

I never thought I would feel this way, but now I know. Now I know. I never thought I would see things as I see them now, but now I know. I never thought I would hurt so bad, but now I know. Now I know.

8/12 - Mega Man 7 (PS4 [SNES])
9/8 - Persona 5 (PS4)
I finally knocked this game out. It's been a long time coming. I really enjoyed it, but I almost feel too fatigued by it to feel like I've really digested it yet. As with many of my favorite games, I may not really start really getting a feel for what this game meant to me until I've had some time to reflect on it.
In any case, it's as good an entry point into this series as any of them. If anyone's looking to start this series, P5 is a great game!
Although I'm a bit sad to have beaten it, as it had become such an entrenched part of my life for a few months, the good news is that its completion has freed my time to hopefully check some shorter games off the backlog in the coming weeks!
Having said that, I also just ordered a new PSP battery, PSP charger, and Shin Megami Tensei: Persona for PSP. Remains to be seen how soon I'll start it...

Re: 2017 Game Clear Thread
No sir. Platinum requires a NG+. One day, I will probably play back through this game, in which case I'll go for it.
Thanks!! Let me know if you pick it up one day.
