1/7 - Dead Rising 4 (Xbone)
1/15 - Pokémon Luna (3DS)

2/5 - The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD (Wii U)

3/26 - The Legend of Zelda (3DS [NES])
3/29 - The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Switch)
6/18 - ARMS (Switch)
8/12 - Mega Man 7 (PS4 [SNES])
9/8 - Persona 5 (PS4)
9/10 - Strider 2 (PS1)
After beating the monolithic Persona 5, I thought I'd try the opposite end of the spectrum lengthwise. This game took me just shy of an hour to beat, and I enjoyed every second of it. Strider 1 was the game that convinced me to get a Genesis and remains one of my all-time favorite games (I was also quite fond of the criminally underrated and underplayed 2014 reboot, as some of you may recall). Naturally, I had to eventually track down a copy of the semi-rare 2nd entry to complete my playthrough of the series, and I was fortunate to finally find a copy in person (and in fantastic shape) while I was at Dragon*Con in Atlanta this past weekend.
Strider 2 is not nearly as good as the other two games in the series, but it's still plenty fun. I'll have to spend a little more time with this game in the Hien mode, which looks to play substantially differently. Plus, the game comes packaged with a full copy of Strider 1! It runs much better on PS1 than it did on Genesis, so it's nice to finally have the definitive version. All in all, worth the premium I paid for this uncommon PS1 title.

2017 Game Clear Thread
Re: 2017 Game Clear Thread
I beat the main story campaign of Destiny 2 with my hunter. Two more characters to go. I also have to get my main character up to Nightfall and Raid levels and then dip into the PvP to get the rust off.

Nice! I should be adding Rabbids to my list soon enough. I'm at world 4-5 now.

Beat this with 3 chaos emeralds last night. I have very mixed feelings about this one. It's definitely a good game, but I'm not sure where it sits on my Sonic list. Sonic 2 is one of my favorite games of all time and one of the few I consider perfect. The rest are good games with flaws. I'd say Mania splits the difference by virtue of emulating bits of all of them. Sonic, in my opinion, is at its best when the levels are short. Longer levels can feel too labyrinthine to give a real sense that progress is being made in them. It seems like everywhere I end up is just by accident. I'd say over half of the levels in Mania were great, but the ones that were a bit of a slog brought the experience down some.
One thing I can unequivocally praise is the bosses. I thought nearly every one of them was very good and among the best in the series. Maybe one or two had a couple headscratching moments, but all in all, I was very impressed with the boss design in this game.
Overall, I definitely enjoyed the game and would recommend it to any classic Sonic fan. I just think it will take a couple replays for me to decide where I place this one in my all time list.

Re: 2017 Game Clear Thread
I bought this game by mistake someone recommended Dragon Ball Z: The Legacy of Goku II to me and went searching for the cheapest copy on ebay totally overlooked that this was the original game.
The game was okay and I'm really hoping they improved with the second installment. The original has a 53 score on metacritics and TLoG2 has a score of 75 so there's hope. The game came down to stun hit run stun hit run the whole time which just became stale also not being able to play as anyone other than goku was a little bit of a bummer.
I love these styles of games and the retro handheld 2000's artstyle.

Re: 2017 Game Clear Thread
I think that's my issue with the game as well. The levels feel a bit messy in that I never really know how far along I am. Frustrating as well when you get a game over on the second zone and you have to go through the long first zone again.Claytone wrote: ↑16 Sep 2017 08:15 Sonic, in my opinion, is at its best when the levels are short.
