Tie-Breaker 1 of 3
Ghouls 'n Ghosts (1989, Genesis)
Red Dead Redemption (2010, Multiplatform)
Tales of Symphonia (2003, GCN)

I'm going to have to stew on this one, but it'll be between G&G or RDR.

Tie-Breaker 2 of 3
Okami (2008, Multiplatform)
Pokémon [Blue/Red] Version (1996, GB)
The Legend of Zelda: A Link between Worlds (2013, 3DS)

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed A Link between Worlds, but I feel like it leaned a bit too heavily on A Link to the Past's assets, which made it easier to recognize that it simply wasn't as good as its predecessor. Okami wins this one for me.

Tie-Breaker 3 of 3
ActRaiser (1990, SNES)
FTL: Faster than Light (2012, PC)

This is a great tie-breaker because both of these games are trying to do something new by fusing genres. I found FTL a bit too punishing and hard to get into the overall gameplay loop (it didn't hook me—rather than wanting to start playing again after failing, I just wanted a break). ActRaiser wins this one for me.

Similar votes from me. Was never attached to GnG, or the other iterations of it. Red Dead gets my vote.

I agree ALTTP takes away from ALBW. I always thought it could be that much better if it just had it's own unique overworld. Pokemon Red/Blue is a bit basic, Okami is special so it gets my vote. It's been here since the first round, gotta keep it up!

Voted for Ghouls'n Ghosts (also nominated it, IIRC). Didn't vote in the other two. As much as I love Pokémon R/B (first game I ever owned), I don't feel confident it's better than its opponents, as I've played neither.

I liked FTL, but I haven't played ActRaiser (though I'd like to). Don't feel comfortable voting in this one either.

I feel like ActRaiser would be a Clay-amenable platforming experience, although you have to bear in mind that it's squarely in the old-SNES platforming paradigm. It looks and feels old.

I mean, I voted for an older Genesis platformer in this very poll. I'm sure I can handle it.
