First time playing through the original Halo. The campaign was pretty fun co-op play. Unfortunately after a couple missions the game became veeeery repetitive, consisting of you going through identical rooms mailing down enemies over and over again in missions that lasted too long. Music was a standout though. Hoping Halo 2 keeps a better pace!
I had this problem with Halo anniversary remaster too, not having played it the first time around (and having no one to co-op with). I'll give it another go sometime.

Yeah honestly it's a tough one to recommend. If you've already played a bit of it, then you know what to expect for all of it. Wouldn't be too bad if you could run through it quick but the missions are really long. Look up the cut scenes and move on to Halo 2 Anniversary. The level design has a much better pace 3 missions in, and great cut scenes.

I'm not a huge fan of Narrative games or walking simulators, but I really enjoyed Edith Finch. Really clever way of telling a story.

I will say, I've played a few of these games now where you explore a house with a creepy vibe but the point is there's nothing actually creepy about it (Edith Finch, Gone Home). Wouldn't mind playing a game like this where something creepy actually does happen!

Try “Don’t Knock Twice” if you see it at the right price for you. Or “Paranormal Activity: Lost Soul”...

Beaten:
1/1 - Firewatch (PSN)
1/13 - Pony Island (PC)
1/15 - Injustice: Gods Among Us (PS4)
2/17 - Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes (Switch)
2/26 - Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon (Xbone)
3/10 - No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise (PS3)
3/22 - Shaq-Fu: A Legend Reborn (PS4)
4/13 - Bloodborne (PS4)
4/28 - Mortal Kombat 11 (PS4)
5/4 - Mortal Kombat (PS3 [Arcade])

After all these years, I was finally inspired to go back and beat the original arcade version of Mortal Kombat. Despite many attempts at it in my youth, I never managed to beat it. The same could be said of II and 3, which I may have to take another crack at soon as well. In any case, the original entry has been checked off the list!

That's awesome, I love going back to games that eluded me when I was young only to beat them so many years later.

Another klassic MK down! This is the one I played the most as a kid and have the most memories of. I don't think I ever so much as reached Kintaro in the past. This game's AI is some real quarter-stealing bullshit! Still, I have tons of nostalgia for the game, and I'm glad to have beaten it, infinite continues or otherwise. ;)

Guess I'll have to dust off UMK3 too at this point. No reason not to.

Yeah! It helps that this arcade version has infinite continues, which I'm not sure the ports I played as a kid did. Nevertheless, you'd be very, very hard pressed to beat this one without them, so I don't feel too bad about it. :D

5/6 - Mortal Kombat II (PS3 [Arcade])
5/7 - Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (PS3 [Arcade])

And that'll do it for the original trilogy! UMK3 is easily the best of the originals (despite Johnny Cage's notable absence). It was fun to play this finally with knowledge of how to perform its combos. Made it a lot more manageable. I also beat the game's bosses with what felt like minimal cheese, which was nice. Still, Shao Kahn was one of the cheapest bosses I've ever fought. That's just the nature of arcade games, I suppose.

Beat Shantae: Half-Genie Hero last night. It wasn't quite as good as Shantae and the Pirate's Curse, but it was still a delightful experience, as all the Shantae games are.
  • January 25th - Mark of the Ninja (Steam)
  • March 1st - Sakura Dungeon (Steam)
  • March 31st - Dead Space (XBox 360)
  • April 3rd - STARWHAL (Steam)
  • April 17th - Super Bomberman R (PlayStation Network)
  • May 6th - Shantae: Half-Genie Hero (PlayStation Network)

Edit: Now my second best year for beating and completing games. The best being last years 49 beats and 7 completely. If I keep my current rate up this will be my best year.

Fable II: Knothole - I really liked this DLC (much more than See the Future) the story was interesting and the way the map changed between 3 seasons was really cool. Was worth the $10

Fable II: See the Future - I disliked this DLC. The pacing was weird and so were the funny missions that being said the extra content and extra Achievement is really nice. The actual missions weren't worth $10 but the extra stuff was.

Sword & Soldiers HD - The final level difficulty spiked from easily beating everything to dying almost instantly and needing a guide which basically told you to stall so you could have enough resources to win which felt like a terrible way to finish the game. I really liked the concept of this game but with every level being easy then the last level being too hard it just makes for a meh game.

Red Faction: Armageddon - Big fat NO from me. I bought it years ago because I loved Guerrilla but it completely takes away the fun of the game and the open world. However I did like the repair function that was really cool.

Borderlands GOTY Enhanced Edition - This game was really fun for what it was (a genre I'm not huge on) I ended up finishing the main story and had fun streaming it. The driving and driving combat really sucked in my opinion otherwise it was fun.

Borderlands GOTY Enhanced Edition: The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned - The Achievement BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAINS sucked otherwise I really enjoyed this DLC After playing 3 of the 4 it's been my clear favorite so far.

Borderlands GOTY Enhanced Edition: Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot - I regretted streaming this. It was so boring just wave mode 5 waves for every round for 5 rounds and doing that 3 times just yawn. The difficulty near the end was good though nice challenge.

Grand Theft Auto III - Another game that has not aged well. I haven't played recent GTA games but my biggest hate was that when you died you lost all your weapons so you had 2 choices to either go around buying your weapons again (some weren't purchasable) or save literally after every mission so if you die you can just reload a save which is what I decided to do. It just got tedious fast though. Something surprises me and I die or one mess up and I die then I have to drive to the mission point again and then try again. This was especially annoying when your safehouse was the other side of the island from the mission start then the mission required you to basically do something back near your safehouse. I just felt like half the time I was traveling to do missions instead of actually doing missions. My other huge issue was after unlocking the 2nd island you'd do a required story mission that made npc on the first island really aggressive to the point they'd instantly blow up your car. Which made some island 1 race missions (which i waited on doing until I found a fast car on island 2) impossible. It also made getting all the collectibles really hard. I assume a ton of this is fixed in the newer games but it really was annoying. These issues also made me not want to play for long periods of time. All that being said I can see how this set a great base idea for the later games it looks like a massive improvement from GTA1/2
