It's more of a thing than it has been since it slowed down after launch. They're having events every couple of weeks with boosted spawns for certain types of pokemon, rotating raid bosses, etc. This weekend, you have a chance to catch shiny Psyduck.

Pokémon Go is ramping up again for the summer, apparently.

• They just released a handful of new Gen IV / Sinnoh monsters (including Gible )
• Adventure Week runs from 4-10 June (if you walk 50km, you get 50,000 stardust and 15 rare candy) and introduces several new shinies
• Slakoth Community Day is on Saturday 8 June
• Go Fest in Chicago runs from 13-16 June and there will be worldwide tasks (including, probably, Jirachi special research)
• Kyogre comes back to legendary raids on 18 June
