Symphony of the Night over Circle of the Moon pretty handily.

Castlevania 1 over 3 pretty handily (for me) as well. I know 3 (and 4) is supposed to be the pinnacle of the classicvania series, but I think the original's streamlined and perfectly-implemented design outweighs the twist of branching paths and having a few characters available.

Super Castlevania IV (SNES, 1991)
Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin (DS, 2006)
Part Two, because Portrait of Ruin is the sequel to Bloodlines, which Super Castlevania IV defeated in the previous round.

Both excellent games, but I give the edge to the GBA entry, partly for having significantly better art/design.

Am I wrong in thinking SotN is going to easily finish 1st or is there another really strong contender?

1, 3, and 4 are all really strong contenders. Aria is better than SotN, so I consider it a contender as well, but SotN gets a lot of strength from being widely played.
