#BGE2020 - Round 1 - Pool 220

Post by This Old Neon »

Welcome to the first round of #BGE2020 pools!

Each game is randomly seeded into pools using the set generator at Random.org. There's no seeding, no ranking, and no preference or prioritization.

The results of the pools will determine how each game stacks up in the elimination rounds, coming later this year.

HOW TO VOTE

Voting is ranked, but it's not super intuitive, so listen up.
  • You have 6 total votes to distribute.
  • You can only select up to 3 options.
  • You can only give each option up to 3 votes.
  • NOTE: The number you pick is not the RANK of your choice (i.e. 1st, 2nd, 3rd), but the number of VOTES you're giving it.
  • The more votes (bigger numbers) a game gets, the better for that game.
EXAMPLES
  • You could pick three games and order them by giving them 3, 2, and 1 votes.
  • If you like three games equally, you could give them 2, 2, and 2 votes.
  • If you only like two games, you could give them 3 and 3 votes (or 3 and 2, etc.).
This gives you a lot of granularity for how you assign your votes and thereby a lot of influence over which games can do well. Use your power wisely!

If you have questions, ask before voting! :neon:

Tough pool. Soul Blazer is a legendary SNES action RPG. Civ II is one of the strongest games in the influential series. Saints Row 3 is perhaps my favourite sandbox action game, somehow managing to out-GTA GTA. Golden Axe II is one of the best arcade beat'em-ups of all time. New Ori is lovely. Herzog is important.

I think I'm going to have to go 3 for Soul Blazer, 2 for Saints Row, and... 1 for Golden Axe.

Ori and Forza are 2 of Xbox's best games in the past few years. I wish I had more time to put towards Forza but my backlog makes it hard for a game so long.
Drumble doesn't respect the sigs so here's a link to my backloggery

I grabbed Steredenn on Vic’s recommendation and boy do we love it. I play it with my son almost daily. We have been able to get to the second-to-last level relatively consistently depending on how the random levels and random power-ups treat us. Highly recommended.

And I gave Golden Axe II a couple votes for being outstanding at what it is and somehow raising the bar on the incredible first game.
I never thought I would feel this way, but now I know. Now I know. I never thought I would see things as I see them now, but now I know. I never thought I would hurt so bad, but now I know. Now I know.

Dead Rising is good arcade fun. I personally don't think the following games managed to nail the balance between plowing through hoards of zombies and the tension of dying at any time.
