#BGE2020 - Round 1 - Pool 240

Post by This Old Neon »

Welcome to the first round of #BGE2020 pools!

Each game is randomly seeded into pools using the set generator at Random.org. There's no seeding, no ranking, and no preference or prioritization.

The results of the pools will determine how each game stacks up in the elimination rounds, coming later this year.

HOW TO VOTE

Voting is ranked, but it's not super intuitive, so listen up.
  • You have 6 total votes to distribute.
  • You can only select up to 3 options.
  • You can only give each option up to 3 votes.
  • NOTE: The number you pick is not the RANK of your choice (i.e. 1st, 2nd, 3rd), but the number of VOTES you're giving it.
  • The more votes (bigger numbers) a game gets, the better for that game.
EXAMPLES
  • You could pick three games and order them by giving them 3, 2, and 1 votes.
  • If you like three games equally, you could give them 2, 2, and 2 votes.
  • If you only like two games, you could give them 3 and 3 votes (or 3 and 2, etc.).
This gives you a lot of granularity for how you assign your votes and thereby a lot of influence over which games can do well. Use your power wisely!

If you have questions, ask before voting! :neon:

I gave Aria of Sorrow some votes - it was fantastic. Also Keystone Kapers...am glad I’m not the only one to vote for it (Thanks, Pluvius!). A great game that steadily ramped up the difficult towards impossibility. I wonder if that game even has a kill screen...
I’ve been waiting for the sun to come up. Waiting for the showers to stop. Waiting for the penny to drop. One time. And I’ve been standing in a cloud of plans. Standing on the shifting sands. Hoping for an open hand. One time.

IMO Dynasty Warriors 5 is the best overall game in the series. Good character designs, good maps, good mechanics, and a nice balance of content without being overly swamped. DW6 changed up the mechanics a bit and then they never really recovered after that, just devolving into overloaded character dumps.

Second vote goes to Aria of Sorrow, which is one of the best Metcastlevania games.

Last remaining vote for Guardian Heroes, which is an excellent beat'em-up adventure and would be getting more votes if it weren't in such a tough pool.

I voted for Guardian Heroes. I've only played it a bit, but I know I'll love it once I play more of it. Gotta do that once COVID is a thing of the past.
