Welcome to the #BGE2020 Elimination Round of 1024!

Each game is seeded based on its performance in the two opening rounds of pools, and there are no stragglers here! Every game in the Upper Bracket has defeated another game in a 1-on-1 poll to get to this point.

Polls are updated weekly, typically on Sunday or Monday. Check back throughout the week to make sure you don't miss a vote!

HOW TO VOTE

This is easy. You only get one vote per poll. The game with the most votes wins. In the event of a tie, the higher seed advances.

Games are often vapid. Throw the thing so it hits the thing. Hit the thing into the other thing. Wii Sports is a pretty good collection of stripped-down, entertaining, competitive, consumable, approachable interpretations of familiar sports.

As a pack-in proof of concept / tech demo, it's even more of a BGE than other pack-in proof of concept / tech demos that I would consider better games (like Astro's Playroom) because it's simply so broadly enjoyable and appealing.

The funny thing about it is that as tech advances, its legacy and cultural impact is less certain—if Nintendo were to release a remaster of Wii Sports on PSVR, then we'd really be talking.

Wii sports is one of those games that is garbage now but was insanely amazing back in 06-07. It's the only game my whole family has played and the tech was mindblowingly as a kid.

I would say that Wii Sports doesn’t have continuing appeal because, let’s be honest, when is the last time anyone played it??? But I haven’t played Thief 2 in a long while so I won’t talk out of two sides of my mouth.

That said, if Thief 2 shows up on PSN I’ll probably buy it. Wii Sports? No way.

Wii Sports is a game you should never buy. It's just a bundled game or a test demo in my eyes

I would spend money on an HD port of Wii Sports to PSVR with online multiplayer.

I do think the legacy of Wii Sports shouldn't necessarily be judged by who is still playing Wii Sports, but by who is waving a wand-controller around to hit stuff.

That wouldn’t be the same game at all though. You’d require those upgrades to the concept to make it worth playing.

I think legacy is less important than entertainment but that’s how my BGE!!! votes go... That’s not the only way to vote.
