The week that just concluded was the exact half-way point of the first round, and it started on 1 March, so it sounds like the first round should wrap up sometime in October.

The second round should theoretically be as long as the first round, because the losing games will all have elimination matches in the lower bracket.

So by my math, the "BEST GAME EVER PROJECT!!!" 2020: Hindsight Edition, Round of 1024 should wrap up in June 2022. Subsequent rounds will be much shorter since 25% of the field will be scrapped for good each time.

Well, we've concluded the Top 2048!

Taking a week off new polls to organize the spreadsheet and get ready for the Top 1024 as well as the lower bracket of Top 2048 rejects!

I informally polled the chat, and by unanimous decision, we'll be alternating weeks: one week of upper bracket polls followed by one week of lower bracket polls. Remember, losers from the lower bracket are eliminated for good!

So, look forward to 32 new polls of Top 1024 match-ups coming up on Saturday, 23 October.

I was in Florida for the weekend and only settling back into my office today. Rather than launch an abbreviated week of polls and get things off-schedule, I'm going to leave the current ones up till the weekend. Thanks for your patience!

YO guess what, this is the final week of the upper bracket for the Top 1024!!!!! Consequently, that means these are also the closest/tightest groups in terms of initial seed ranks, so there should be some good matches here.

There will be one more week of the lower bracket for the Top 1024 next week, followed by a week off while I do some admin stuff, and then we'll be into the Top 512!!! The Top 512 will take half as long as this Top 1024 did.

The only time I can ever do it is on Fri-Sat-Sun, and I've been resolving to do so for the past several weeks, but unfortunately summer being what it is, I've been slammed every weekend for a long time.

Maybe I'll take the day of the queen's funeral (bonus day off here) and set some time aside to sit down and work on it.

Important note about this round:

The first week of polls in the Top 512 are going to be open for longer than one week, since they're being posted late on a Tuesday evening. This will give them time to run for at least a full week, and also give us time to bring our voters back and make sure they know polls are up and running again.

We'll close the first week of voting on Saturday, 26 November.
