Bottom 1024 — Week 8 — Poll 23

Post by This Old Neon »

Welcome to the #BGE2020 Elimination Round Lower Bracket!

Each game in the lower bracket is still seeded based on its performance in the two opening rounds of pools! Every game in the lower bracket has already been defeated by another game in a 1-on-1 poll to get to this point. This is their chance to claw their way back into the main event... but the stakes are high. The games that lose in these polls are out of the tournament for good! The games that survive will face the next crop of upper bracket losers in the next round.

Polls are updated weekly, typically on Saturday... or Sunday or Monday. Check back throughout the week to make sure you don't miss a vote!

HOW TO VOTE

This is easy. You only get one vote per poll. The game with the most votes wins. In the event of a tie, the higher seed advances.

Alright listen here folks. There are a lot of Picross games, and S3 isn't among the best of them—it's too early to have the excellent colour-blind mode of the later games, and it's too late to have any claim to influence or design innovation or impact (it's a copy & paste entry).

On the other hand, You Have to Win the Game is one of the purest, old-school entries/homages in the saturated Metcastlevania genre, leaning much more towards the early Metroid side where your progression is based solely on acquiring abilities and learning how to do stuff with buttons (rather than getting equipment and stats). AND IT'S FREE. Anyone who loves old Metroid games should really give it a try. You can get it on Steam, and I think you can also get the file directly from the dev (who we've interviewed for the site before).

I swear to god, if this contest has ever been about anything other than clicking on a radio button in a thread and moving on with your day, if anyone wants to find a sorely overlooked niche gem, to play this free game. I'm not saying it's the best Metcastlevania game or anything, but if you're a fan of the genre and you like old retro style, you'll enjoy it.

Played it, but didn't enjoy it. I would enjoy any decent Picross game more.
