Top 512 — Week 5 — Poll 6

Welcome to the #BGE2020 Elimination Round of 512!

Each game is seeded based on its performance in the two opening rounds of pools. Every game in the Upper Bracket has defeated multiple other games in 1-on-1 polls to get to this point. These are still the best of the best.

Polls are updated weekly, typically on Sunday or Monday. Check back throughout the week to make sure you don't miss a vote!

HOW TO VOTE

This is easy. You only get one vote per poll. The game with the most votes wins. In the event of a tie, the higher seed advances, so don't get complacent!

This is kind of a funny match-up. Battle of the games that are broken up into multiple chapters, each one following its own important protagonist. Ironically, the fact that Octopath is up here revealing the debt it owes to Dragon Quest IV is itself more justification for voting for DQ4 on the grounds of influence.

Is the original NES Dragon Quest IV in the top 512? I like the DS version too, and even having not personally played Octopath I will consider voting for it... but my vote might be less emphatic knowing the original is out there.

Was this DS remake the first time Dragon Quest localizations started introducing dialects for different regions to give them more flavor? Although I like the shift on paper, it does make a lot of dialogue harder to parse.

Not only is the NES version is still alive, but it has also already secured its spot in the Top 256.
