Bottom 1024 — Week 25 — Poll 27

Post by This Old Neon »

Welcome to the #BGE2020 Elimination Round Lower Bracket!

Each game in the lower bracket is still seeded based on its performance in the two opening rounds of pools! Every game in the lower bracket has already been defeated by another game in a 1-on-1 poll to get to this point. This is their chance to claw their way back into the main event... but the stakes are high. The games that lose in these polls are out of the tournament for good! The games that survive will face the next crop of upper bracket losers in the next round.

Polls are updated weekly, typically on Saturday... or Sunday or Monday. Check back throughout the week to make sure you don't miss a vote!

HOW TO VOTE

This is easy. You only get one vote per poll. The game with the most votes wins. In the event of a tie, the higher seed advances, so don't get complacent!

Spider-Man 2 is commonly cited as the best Spider-Man game with the best web-slinging mechanics till the modern PS4 Spider-Man came along. The fact that it's so underlooked here is an example of the bias/blind-spot of a smaller community of voters. We're not exactly the most mid-era comic book action movie game adaptation crowd. :D

Yeah Spider-Man 2 rocked. It's one of the games I sold as a kid growing up so I could afford something new, but I definitely wouldn't mind having it back.

I think it certainly deserves to move on over one of many Tetris duplicates, if perhaps that angle can appeal to some who aren't as familiar with it.

Spiderman 2 is on a lot of platforms and are vastly different. I'm confused by what multiplatform means

Are we talking about the console versions (PS2/Xbox/GCN), PSP version, PC version, N-Gage version, GBA version or the DS version? All of these versions are completely different games.

Shouldn't it be specified which version since we split up other games (R-Type for example) that have multiple systems normally.

I'm just going to repost my answer from when you asked it in that R-Type thread. :)

As you'll remember, each Project has had slightly different rules to try to make them feel unique and/or get at something interesting about the nominated games and what makes them the best, so one Project allowed all remotely different versions of a game to compete on their own (against each other) while another Project collapsed different versions into one entry.
This Spider-Man 2 entry was nominated in and sourced from the BGE Project that collapsed multiple versions of games.

Maybe my previous message was worded poorly but basically I was asking why it was marking "Spider Man 2 (Multiplatform)" instead of "Spider Man 2 (PS2/GCN/XB)".

Your original response said it only included the 3 home consoles but this message now implies that the PC and handhelds are included since it was part of the BGE that merged different versions.

Multiplatform is just how it was written before. Probably easiest for the spreadsheet at the time. If you'd like to cast a vote for it on the basis of the N-Gage version, you're free to do so.
