Welcome to the #BGE2020 Elimination Round of 256!
Each game is seeded based on its performance in the two opening rounds of pools. Every game in the Upper Bracket has defeated multiple other games in 1-on-1 polls to get to this point. These are still the best of the best.
Polls are updated weekly, typically on Sunday or Monday. Check back throughout the week to make sure you don't miss a vote!
HOW TO VOTE
This is easy. You only get one vote per poll. The game with the most votes wins. In the event of a tie, the higher seed advances, so don't get complacent!

Re: Top 256 — Week 1 — Poll 12
Chrono Trigger is pretty much as close as it gets to a perfect RPG. Beautiful storyline, excellent plot that actually surfaces new gameplay choices, beautiful music, great mechanics, memorable characters.

Re: Top 256 — Week 1 — Poll 12
I really like DQ9, more than most series fans seem to - the class system made grinding fun, and it had lots of good little vignettes and twists. The pre-Streetpass Streetpass feature was really cool, even if there were very few opportunities to do it where I live.
It was heavily promoted at the time and I got a free shirt (and some treasure maps) from a local Gamestop event. Any kind of event for a JRPG I like is rare, so I consider myself lucky I got to go to one... even if there were only 4 other people there, they were all cool!
But I can't vote for it over Chrono Trigger, which is good enough that even 30 years later games like Chained Echoes are imitating its style, mechanics or sometimes both. Unfortunately, Chained Echoes didn't imitate its brevity. The whole package is just great. Getting to the top 256 is a great showing for DQ9.
