Welcome to the #BGE2020 Elimination Round Lower Bracket!
Each game in the lower bracket is still seeded based on its performance in the two opening rounds of pools! Every game in the lower bracket has already been defeated by another game in a 1-on-1 poll to get to this point. This is their chance to claw their way back into the main event... but the stakes are high. The games that lose in these polls are out of the tournament for good! The games that survive will face the next crop of upper bracket losers in the next round.
Polls are updated weekly, typically on Saturday... or Sunday or Monday. Check back throughout the week to make sure you don't miss a vote!
HOW TO VOTE
This is easy. You only get one vote per poll. The game with the most votes wins. In the event of a tie, the higher seed advances, so don't get complacent!

Re: Bottom 768 — Week 1 — Poll 6
Super Mario Maker feels like such a cheat game here lol, but the contest is what it is, so I'm not going to begrudge anyone voting for it. I will only note that the first SMM was missing some key features that made its sequel such a great progression on the formula.
Too bad it lands in here against a game no one played in a genre no one played on a system no one played.

Re: Bottom 768 — Week 1 — Poll 6
A friend was asking for Saturn recommendations the other day and Dragon Force was my only one in English... Panzer Dragoon Saga and SF3 Scenario 1 are out of my price range.
DF is more a riff on ROTK games than strategy RPGs like Langrisser or Fire Emblem. I think it's a little weird it's usually lumped with the latter. Your control is really indirect, you give your army a formation and it typically has only a little impact (IIRC for non-ranged troops, you usually just wanted to try and sneak around to the general). Most of what you're doing is managing generals and troop types, and there's very little in the way of growth from what I recall (...here's where I remember my Saturn has been collecting dust for 15 years). There's a storyline for each kingdom, but the two I played were kind of barebones. Going through all the scenarios seems like it would be a lot of tedium.
It tries to do a lot of things, and doesn't do many particularly well, but the complete package is still fun. I think more modern games have done the cross-genre thing better (like Divinity: Dragon Commander). It's worth recognizing what Dragon Force did earlier, though.

I will always defend the original SMM, on its controls alone. As good as it's sequel is, the Switch just can't replicate it.
