Top 256 — Week 3 — Poll 19

Post by This Old Neon »

Welcome to the #BGE2020 Elimination Round of 256!

Each game is seeded based on its performance in the two opening rounds of pools. Every game in the Upper Bracket has defeated multiple other games in 1-on-1 polls to get to this point. These are still the best of the best.

Polls are updated weekly, typically on Sunday or Monday. Check back throughout the week to make sure you don't miss a vote!

HOW TO VOTE

This is easy. You only get one vote per poll. The game with the most votes wins. In the event of a tie, the higher seed advances, so don't get complacent!

Yeah space invaders is good. Yeah it probably was super revolutionary but brothers was such a fun experience. Yes space invaders should probably get my vote but I can't let brothers miss out on a top 128 spot either. Brothers is my vote.

The Atari version of Space Invaders is not great. Since it's a 2-year-old port, it also doesn't get big influence/impact votes from me. The arcade original absolutely does. I suppose the Atari version demonstrates that the great games of the arcade hall can be played at home on these newfangled little toys you hook up to your TV screen, but it's not like Atari Space Invaders pushed widespread adoption of consoles. That would happen later with a series that people give loads of influence/impact votes to without realizing that's what they're doing. :D

Brothers gets my vote here for reasons I've expounded on many times over the past few events. Through harsh psychological trickery, it's one of the first games I can remember where the simple act of using the control scheme elicited an emotional reaction. Games, innit.
