Yeah, it's a comfortable series to return to from time to time, but this is far down the list of ones I'd recommend. Man I am a BIG fan of Rusty's Real Deal Baseball. Interesting free to play mechanics aside, like you said it's just an enjoyable package of neat baseball themed minigames with a quirky story and vibe. The mini games feel really fine tuned and I was always motivated to try and do better and better.

Nobody I personally knew at the time really seemed to give it the time of day, so I was really surprised how much I liked it. Happy to hear it wasn't totally overlooked.

RE4 Remake will likely be my last beat of the year, and it was a good one! At first I thought it might be too familiar to the original but once I got into the groove I was happy to play the game again but in its updated form. Another great RE remake.

Happy with the year overall, the big highlights for me were Persona 5, Zelda TOTK, Pikmin 1, 2 and 4, Portal 2, Alan Wake 2, Xenoblade DLC and Inscryption.

Continuing on November's theme, December saw me finish off a few more Steam games. I also got my final Platinum trophy of the year, with a total of 5 new beats and 4 new completes.
Most notably, this was a real return to gaming form for me after several years of chilling. I beat 39 games, my 5th best total in recorded memory, but my highest total since 2014. I completed 33 games, which is my 2nd highest total ever, after 2014. Similarly, my 9 Platinum trophies were my 2nd highest total ever, after 2013's 13.
I wonder if I can keep it up. Most of the PS games on my radar right now are longer, slower ones, but I could make up for it with some more Steam Deck quickies.

2023-12-27 - Demonology 101 (itch.io) - A minuscule detective game originally made for a jam, where you summon a demon and have to cross-reference facts from a manual to guess their names. Has a couple cute little gimmicks.
2023-12-27 - Gato Roboto (Steam) - Cute, short, linear game, heavily inspired by Metroid, about a cat in a mech suit. Nuff said.
2023-12-17 - Carrion (PS5) - More puzzly and less eatin'-dudesy than I thought, a pleasant surprise! By the end, I started sparing the ones who didn't attack me, because I felt too bad for them.
2023-12-11 - Loop Hero (Steam) - I was expecting this to be a little casual indie time-waster, but it turned out to be quite an involved 50-hour existentialist cosmic RPG. Great setup/premise, fun execution, and nice ending! I'm just grinding for 5 more alternate endings / dialogue options, maxing out my base, and looking for secrets.
Most notably, this was a real return to gaming form for me after several years of chilling. I beat 39 games, my 5th best total in recorded memory, but my highest total since 2014. I completed 33 games, which is my 2nd highest total ever, after 2014. Similarly, my 9 Platinum trophies were my 2nd highest total ever, after 2013's 13.
I wonder if I can keep it up. Most of the PS games on my radar right now are longer, slower ones, but I could make up for it with some more Steam Deck quickies.
