Suikoden

Post by Kong Wen »

Today at Son'y first-ever PlayStation Experience in Las Vegas, Konami made the long-awaited announcement that Suikoden II (heralded by many as among the greatest RPGs ever made, with an after-market price tag to match) will be released on PSN as a PSOne Classic playable on PS3 and Vita on Tuesday, 9 December.

That's obviously awesome news!

Let's use this thread to cheer about the Suikoden II announcement, but also as a general discussion about the series. :) The last time I beat the original was way back in 1999, so perhaps I should give it a replay on Vita before I sink my teeth into the sequel (which I've sadly never played)?

You can bet this is a day one purchase. I never played this series, but have watched a few videos and have this on my must have list.

It's definitely going to be awesome to pick this up for $5-10 after holding off on dropping the $150-200 on a PS1 copy! :)

Somehow I didn't know you were on PSN! I'll pop you a friend request. :neon:

I'll be getting this as soon as I'm able. Suikoden II has managed to stay in my top 3 Japanese RPGs of all time since it released. It'll be great to revisit and see if it holds up today.

It should technically still be possible to play it on a PSP—the tricky part is getting the game on there. Other than that, PS3 and Vita are your go-to systems.

Interestingly, it would probably be cheaper to buy a PS3 and download the game than it would be just to buy a PS1 copy of the game...

Well, I grabbed this on Tuesday and I'm loving every second of it, all over again. This is a marvelous game, and I hope everyone in here takes the opportunity to play it.

I'll be getting this very soon, I'm really looking forward to playing it. It's one of those "legendary" rpg's I missed out on as a kid.

Maybe I should take the release of Suikoden II as a sign that I should finally play the first Suikoden. I've had it untouched on my psp for like five years now...

Get and play both. The first one at least is very accessible.
