I'm watching the NFL one instead.

Though I have gamecentre so I guess I could watch it later. (If they are putting it on gamecentre)

Mike Richards has cleared waivers and made his way into the minors. Earning $7M on a 12-year contract, he runs the risk of being the new Wade Redden, who spent much of the rest of his career in the minors because no NHL team wanted to eat his salary.

Wade Redden was so handy in NHL 12 Be a GM. I'd make a trade but the other team wouldn't have enough cap space so I'd just snatch up Redden to make it go through then ship him off again to someone else for a draft pick or keep him on the roster (as he was an okay 4th liner) if had the cap space.

Winnipeg has traded Evander Kane, Zach Bogosian, and a goaltending prospect to the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for Tyler Myers, Drew Stafford, two prospects, and a first-round draft pick.

I think Winnipeg is on the winning end of this deal. A couple decent players now, and some building blocks for the future. Kane wasn't doing anything for them, and there was clearly some bad blood.

(The pool sheet is updated.)

In some respects, sure. They probably could have done without giving up prospects and draft picks.

I'm eagerly awaiting the day when Toronto finally wakes up and realizes they need to explode the whole team and rebuild around prospects. Get those ridiculous contracts and all that dressing room poison out of there.

This. For how long now has that been the obvious solution? Ten seasons?

Part of the problem is they're in kind of a unique situation because they're not owned by one dude (so less personal drive/responsibility to build a winning team) and because they'll sell out every game no matter how bad they are.

EDIT: I just found this article about Shanahan recently being given the mandate to blow up the team. Interestingly, the article claims it was his plan all along, and he needed the "evidence of this season" to persuade the ownership group to allow him to do what he wanted.

Heard an awesome quote somewhere that said something along the lines of, " Kane got traded from the Buffalo of Canada to the Winnipeg of the United States of America."

What say you Shoe??? ;)
