For the playoffs I have an idea for the hockey pool.
We each select 5 players from the 15 we drafted to play and whoever gets the most points wins.
No injuries.
No subs.
That way we also won't have to all be online at the same time to draft.
Looking at the lineups everyone has at least 5 players who are in playoff teams at the moment and everyone's first pick is in a playoff team as of now.
What's everyone's thoughts?
Also an idea if we do this next season (unless someone new wants to join) we could pick 5 players on our team we want to keep for next year then drafted another 10. So run it similar to the keeper leagues on sites like espn and yahoo.

I like your idea for the playoff pool Slurm. The good thing is the current sheet can easily be adapted for that format. We'll have to make sure everyone makes their picks before the first playoff game.
Can't say I'm a big fan of the keeper pool idea though. It's a pretty big commitment and can lock people out of good picks for a long time. I like the idea of starting fresh and having to strategize your picks from the start again.

This way I don't have to debate about keeping Vorecek for next year!Kong Wen wrote:I like your idea for the playoff pool Slurm. The good thing is the current sheet can easily be adapted for that format. We'll have to make sure everyone makes their picks before the first playoff game.

I've never tried a keeper league that's why I suggested it. You got a good point though so probably easier to just re draft like we did last year.

Yeah, you're right, you're right. I just hate seeing losses in person. Makes it a lot tougher to take! Still had a good time making it up to Nashville, though. Not the shortest trip from Atlanta.Kreegs wrote:
Because your team is REALLY good. Amazingly, the Wild are HOT right now. Where were you sitting? Where there a lot of MN fans there? I was watching on tv. Couldn't believe that the Wild were able to pull out 2 wins in Nashville this year!
What is that celebration song and chant after a goal?
Also, another one of my players in hurt...

My friend and I were sitting way up in the top deck (as students, neither of us is rolling in $$$), but there aren't really any bad seats in Bridgestone, IMO. Lots of MN fans, yeah, I was actually really surprised. You guys showed up! Obviously way more Preds fans, but the Wild fans made their presence known.
The celebration song is two parts. Here's the horn on YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C5IYVjPJbw4
The first song is "I Like It, I Love It" by Tim McGraw, a popular country singer (much more popular when the Preds were founded). The lyrics are changed from "don't know what it is about that little girl's lovin'" to "don't know what it is about the Predators scorin'." It's super cheesy, but it's fine. Then comes "Gold on the Ceiling" by the Black Keys, during which we chant "Hey, you suck!" (2x) then "We're gonna beat the hell outta you!" "And you!" (x6). It's basically lifted from Alabama's "Rammer Jammer" (https://youtu.be/LZ8fUgzEGdM?t=2m). We used to use "Rock n Roll Part 2" as well, but after further allegations came out against Gary Glitter, they dropped it in favor of the Black Keys tune.
So that's that!

Preds clinch their return to the playoffs for the first time in 3 years with a win over the Caps and Barry Trotz. That's really some cold irony.

There are only a handful of games left in the season, and there's still a tie for second place!
