But wouldn't other teams be able to offer toronto more. Like they have all summer to negotiate a deal it feels like they just accepted the first one they saw.Kong Wen wrote:Maybe a bit. Only if other teams were actually interested in taking Kessel and his contract into their locker rooms.Slurmee wrote:But wouldn't other teams be able to offer toronto more. Re: Hockey Thread! (NHL etc.)
Martin St. Louis retired today.
I remember when he played in the minors in my hometown. We were pretty chuffed when he hit the big time. And now he's a retired old veteran at 40. This might be the first player I can remember watching from start to finish. I guess that makes me an old veteran, too.

Mine was Lindros, Kong. You've got company in the geezer section. And yes, absolutely yes, Kessel just needed to GTFO for everyone's sake.

The sad moment when Kyle Quincy was the first NHL player you saw play live locally :/

The Capitals are making improvements, which I don't like. They lost Green to the Red Wings, but they replaced him with Williams (who is IMO better), and they also snagged Oshie.

Williams will still be a King in my books! LA will miss him.Kong Wen wrote:The Capitals are making improvements, which I don't like. They lost Green to the Red Wings, but they replaced him with Williams (who is IMO better), and they also snagged Oshie.
Re: Hockey Thread! (NHL etc.)
Quebecor have confirmed that they made a bid for NHL expansion yesterday (the deadline). Despite expectations, Seattle and Toronto didn't make bids. As far as I know, the only other bidder was Las Vegas.
The earliest either (or both) of these teams could be up and running with NHL teams is the 2017-18 season. Québec City has an 18k-seater arena pretty much up and running, and the one in Vegas will be ready by early 2016.

I'm still salty that Green Bay or Milwauke doesn't have a team.
The poor souls have to support Minnesota *pukes*

Oh dear that is a low blow. I do agree with you that Madison or Milwaukee should have a team, but more people in Milwaukee support Chicago than Minnesota.Slurmee wrote:I'm still salty that Green Bay or Milwauke doesn't have a team.

Would Quebec be able to use the same team name? I thought that it was owned by Colorado (like the Northstars situation).
