I know it's a bad sign when I'm seriously considering Final Fantasy IX the best game in here...

A poor grouping here. Final Fantasy IX is by far and away my choice in this one.

Sonic shines, and you know this. I'll fight for it till the end.Kong Wen wrote:I know it's a bad sign when I'm seriously considering Final Fantasy IX the best game in here...
Also, I owned Def Jam: FfNY on the PS2, but that game was all sorts of amazing.
Re: Round 3: The Manitoba Bracket
I might be in the minority, but I actually like a lot of the games on here. Sonic the Hedgehog, Super Mario Land 3, Lion King, DKC3, FFIX and SSX Tricky were all really good games in my opinion, and I heard good things about Def Jam. I guess my problem with this grouping is that it contains a lot of games which don't really stand out as the best in their series. Again, if this was DKC2 it would have been an easy choice for me. I'm guessing that game is further up in the rounds? DKC1 and DKC3 are far inferior by comparison.
I decided to abstain from this one as I had too difficult a time deciding. I almost picked Lion King though.

Easy choice, seeing as FFIX is s the best ps1 FF there is (not counting T).

DKC3 is probably the worst in the series, while Mario vs. Donkey Kong is probably the best in its series.

I'm not normally that much into platformers, but I do have many fond memories of searching for secrets in Wario Land to get the best ending. It gets my vote.
It's been a while since I last gave FFIX a re-run, perhaps I'd like it better nowadays - I recall it running pretty slow in battles, though, which is one of my least favorite things in an RPG. Also wasn't a big fan of the characters - Steiner was fun, though.

I went with TJ&E, a unique and creative and fun two-player 16-bit game with lots of variety and randomly generated levels, and Sonic 1, for being an outstanding 16-bit platformer. Fun gameplay, wonderful music, and solid graphics. I love that game.
I never thought I would feel this way, but now I know. Now I know. I never thought I would see things as I see them now, but now I know. I never thought I would hurt so bad, but now I know. Now I know.

Sorry Sonic, but nostalgia and music will only get you so far. Toe Jam & Earl gets my vote for being utterly unique. I had a lot of great times failing miserably at that game with friends.
