BGE Round Five

Post by This Old Neon »

Round Five of the 2015 "BEST GAME EVER!!!" Project is about to begin.

Round Five features all of the games that received a total nomination weight under 5.5 (again, under 0.055 in the original math—multiplied by 100 to make numbers easier to work with) as well as the winners of the previous round.
  • For this round, there will once again be 10 polls of 10 games each.
  • You will be able to vote for up to 4 games in each poll
  • The top 4 games from each poll will move on to Round Six: 40 games will advance, and 60 more will be eliminated.
These middle rounds usually contain a fair mix of good quality games that people may not have felt strongly enough to nominate, but which have gained support through previous rounds. Even though we haven't reached the Top 128 yet, we may start to see some serious contenders emerging. A good chunk of the games in the middle rounds are allowed to progress (30-40%), which gives them space to really display their quality and weed out any weak competition.

Polls will be open for one week.

Even if nobody else nominated the 17 games I nominated none of them would be in this round.

100/17 = 5.88

However I noticed secret of mana in this round which has done quite well in past events.

I'm surprised that this many rounds in there are still so many unfamilar games to me.

I'm having the same issue / experience.
I never thought I would feel this way, but now I know. Now I know. I never thought I would see things as I see them now, but now I know. I never thought I would hurt so bad, but now I know. Now I know.

Many games which were nominated by just one person are only now just starting to emerge in the polls.

How many games are still left in the whole thing?

Also do we have any Round 1 games still in the running? If not how about Round 2?

I know Pokemon Red/Blue and Cave Story have made it through a few rounds.

Including the games currently competing in Round 5, there are 296 games left in the running.

Papers, Please; Lemmings; Fallout; Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition; and Doom II: Hell on Earth are the games that have survived since the first round.

Oddly enough, I liked the last round better. This round has a lot of unfamiliar or unplayed games for me, or games which I just generally found mediocre. I also think that my tastes are a bit of an outlier this round and that none of my votes made a difference this time.

I was thinking the same thing, last round's games seemed to be a bit better. More difficult choices.
