It's similar to other games in that regard, it's just that Activision/Bungie is really pushing the cake on that DLC, and I think it even locks other players out of some content unless they buy the latest one, other than just the new zones (not sure of the whole story since I have all the DLC). Another thing is that one of the examples Kong gave, CoD, is developed by multiple studios with an alternating release schedule, so while it seems as if it's a constant release schedule, it's not like the stream of annual sports game releases all by one developer. They all put out enough DLC to add up to or surpass the price of a whole new game. Somewhat relevant article, featuring EA. Honestly, I can't think off the top of my head of any devs that push out an annual shooting game release.

Yeah, that's pretty much the point I was making there. With other competitive/PvP-based shooting games that have annual instalments, every time a new entry comes out, 90% of the player base jumps ship. Heck, even when new entries aren't coming out every year, the online playerbase of games like this tends to stagnate after a while. Destiny is still going strong, probably precisely because of their aggressive content schedule.

Destiny's userbase has now climbed to 25 million registered players, and the game has become the #1 most-watched console game on Twitch.

The other games I voted for are A Mind Forever Voyaging and Pool of Radiance. The latter particularly is a game that was very influential to my development as an RPG and strategy game fan. A Mind Forever Voyaging is a legit work of speculative fiction that not many people will have the opportunity to explore, I suppose. One of the reasons it's so interesting is because it was almost explicitly politically motivated.

I really thought we'd see more Destiny support here.

Destiny and Bloodborne both aren't overly unexpected given the relatively low adoption of current gen systems on this board.

Well I mean, it's available on PS3 and 360 as well. Maybe those versions weren't as inticing.
