Not that odd in my mind. Never gave two shits about the series until this particularly spectacular entry.

F-Zero GX will end up being the highest-ranked F-Zero game, and oddly enough it was the lowest-seeded one.VictorViper wrote:Not that odd in my mind. Never gave two shits about the series until this particularly spectacular entry.

I was having trouble editing in the quote and then got distracted, so thanks for that!

I think there has been enough time since the last F-Zero game that a new next gen F-Zero would create a lot of buzz. Launch title like you said works great.Claytone wrote:I have played every game in this bracket (and only not finished two of them). F-Zero GX is by far the best in the bracket, so it will receive my only vote. There are other games in this bracket that I think deserve to move on, but GX deserves it more than any of them. It's so. fucking. good. I will be deeply saddened if this is the last stand of F-Zero as a series.
And in general, I hope the series can make a comeback. I think the gaming ecosystem is perfect for a new F-Zero. With the Bayonettas and Dark Souls of the world, I think a new appreciation has cropped up for its brand of brutal difficulty and perfection of its twitch, white-knuckle gaming. F-Zero is a series that is typically somewhat light on content, speaking just in terms of level volume, but its incredible depth and rockin' soundtrack keep you coming back to master those same five, beautifully designed Grands Prix. Racing games, as easy as they are to make look pretty, are ideal launch titles, so I could see a real opportunity to bring the series back with a bang on the NX. Toss in some online play and a track creator/sharer, and you'd solve perhaps the series's only gripes.
I can dream...

I'm not very big on the F-Zero series, I think GX is very good and I think it's very good because Sega made it. So I'm not dying for a new entry. Especially if Nintendo develops it.

It was very good because AmusementVision developed it. I know they were a Sega subsidiary, but it's an important distinction to make, since they were basically Sega's best branch at the time.TheGreatNads wrote:I'm not very big on the F-Zero series, I think GX is very good and I think it's very good because Sega made it. Anyway, I think the whole series is outstanding. I can see why people think GX is so much better than the rest of the series, but I thought EAD did a very admirable job with X as well, especially considering the hardware. I also think the SNES/GBA Mode 7 games are good, but they're definitely an acquired taste. Regardless, I don't have any particular fear that Nintendo would do a poor job with a new one, considering the quality of X.
Give me a new F-Zero game with the metal soundtrack and comic book aesthetic of X on GX's engine, and you've really got a classic in the making.

I was busy this afternoon and killed F-Zero. At least killed a tie-breaker.

Pac-Man, The Legend of Zelda, and Paper Mario will advance into the Top 128.

It would have been interesting to see a Paper Mario vs. F-Zero GX tie-breaker. Both big-ticket Nintendo games with strong followings.VictorViper wrote:I was busy this afternoon and killed F-Zero. At least killed a tie-breaker.
