That joke aside, I kind of wish there was a way to select a basic theme [the preloaded ones] without the requirement of an SD card.

I really want to have those themes for free. It seems like a jerk move making us pay for it.

Nintendo wants to make money to make up for their losses and want their revenue to go up too! :P

Paying for some premium themes is fine. But there should be a handful of free options, for sure.

Well, they'll definitely be launching new themes over time, and for all we know there may be some promos where you can get certain themes for free, etc. They'll undoubtedly be piled into the Club Nintendo rewards program.

Japan has some free themes that aren`t just the basic colour ones so I would assume we`ll get some free ones down the line.

If you pre-order Tales of the World you get 7 free themes to go with it, so it seems like there will be several promotions.
