Metroid II is a masterpiece. It belongs in this appropriately titled grouping.

I'm sorry, it was wrong of me quoting the whole sentence as it made you guys understand the exact opposite of what I meant.
What I intended to say is "Don't you dare assume Metrroid II was an awful game".
Metroid Ii and Metroid fusion always take the crap from people who didn't play them just beause they lack one of the fundamental mechanics of other Metroid games, which is the non-linearity of progression in the map.
In both cases this doesn't have any bad influence in appreciating two splendid games, and the people complaining about that are mostly ignorant who never played a metrroid game multiple times, hence having the chance to appreciate said non-linearity, so their criticism is invalid.
I accept this kind of critique only by speedrunners which by the way, when they do, they never say it like it makes these games inferior to the others.

I can't assume that because I've completed it.
Back in the '90s, I assumed it would be a crap game because it looked like
Metroid, but on Game Boy. (An assumption is not a critique.) After I played it inside-out, it became one of my favourite
Metroid games (let's say,
Super Metroid,
Fusion, and this).

The final confrontation with the striders in HL2E2 is to this date the only FPS "boss" encounter that I have found fun. And holy shit was it ever fun. If it weren't for this, I would be hard-pressed to say that FPS bosses are impossible to design well. EZ vote.
*Note: this is hyperbole. I really like metroid prime's bosses, for instance, but that game has a lot of non FPS elements.

Wow, really? No love for NFS3: Hot Pursuit?
It plays as really dated now, I agree. But some of the cars are really just plain fun. I really enjoyed running the Alfa Romeo Scighera, easily one of my favourite cars in any NFS game.
